"Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer Unveils Superman Ties in Opening Scene"

Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, which significantly enhances the show's ties to the Superman narrative by introducing key characters Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene.

The trailer begins with a tense interview scene featuring Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl. They are seen dismissively questioning John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, for a potential spot on a superhero team. The interview quickly deteriorates, leaving Peacemaker visibly dejected as he storms out of the building.

This trailer offers our first glimpse at these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11, marking it as the third entry in the new DCU, which was officially launched with the Creature Commandos TV series late last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU in a fresh direction, moving away from the critically maligned DC Extended Universe that included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will persist, with Peacemaker being a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the now-defunct DCEU, Season 2 will be fully integrated into the new DCU.

Additionally, Gunn has revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the events of Superman directly influencing Peacemaker's storyline.
