Phantom Rose 2: Sapphire continues the story of Aria, a young girl fighting monstrous creatures within her haunted school. The gothic atmosphere and strategic card combat remain core elements, but with a key difference: instead of random card draws during battles, players strategically manage card cooldowns. This adds a layer of tactical depth, demanding skillful planning and execution to overcome the increasingly challenging levels.

The game also introduces an engaging Arcade mode for rapid boss battles and rewards, along with a Custom mode for personalized challenges. A standout feature, absent in the original, is the class system.
