Phasmophobia Weekly Challenge: Mastering the Primitive Challenge

by Finn May 14,2025

Embarking on the Primitive weekly challenge in *Phasmophobia* might make you feel like you're stepping back into the Stone Age, but unlike our prehistoric ancestors, you'll be dealing with spectral hauntings rather than saber-toothed tigers. To successfully complete this challenge, you'll need to navigate the ghost hunt without relying on any electronic devices. Let's dive into how you can accomplish this feat.

The Primitive Challenge is among the most demanding weekly challenges in Phasmophobia, requiring you to identify the ghost and complete investigations without any electronic assistance. This means you'll need to rely heavily on your intuition and understanding of ghost behavior. The challenge takes place at 10 Ridgeview Court, a house-style map with a straightforward layout that makes it easier to navigate and find safety. Remember, you'll need to successfully complete three qualifying investigations to earn full credit for this challenge.

Tips & Tricks To Complete Primitive Challenge in Phasmophobia

Navigating the Primitive Challenge comes with its unique set of rules and circumstances. You'll be working with a very limited loadout, as electronics, from basic Flashlights to evidence-gathering tools like DOTs Projectors and Video Cameras, are completely off-limits.

Sanity Medication is also absent, but you start with a full Sanity meter to protect you temporarily from ghost antics. Your provided equipment includes two Tier 1 Crucifixes to prevent up to two ghost hunt attempts, Tier 2 Firelights, and a full set of Tier 1 Incense for added protection.

For evidence gathering, your arsenal is minimal: two Tier 3 Ghost Writing books and two Tier 1 "glowstick" UV lights, which double as your flashlights and tools for ultraviolet evidence detection. Additionally, you have two Tier 1 thermometers to identify freezing temperatures.

To succeed, hone your paranormal intuition and learn to recognize the unique behavioral traits of each ghost, as detailed in our no-evidence cheat sheet.

Your first step should be to locate the ghost quickly, as navigating in the dark without access to the fuse box can drain your sanity. The ghost's increased activity in this challenge should aid in tracking it down. Alternatively, you can use the provided Ouija Board, found in the laundry room on the first floor, to ask the ghost about its "favorite room." Be cautious, though, as this costs 50% of your sanity, and always say "Goodbye" to avoid triggering a Cursed Hunt. This approach is particularly useful in group settings for added safety.
