Finnish game developer Supercell has resurrected their cancelled RPG, Clash Heroes, in a surprising new form: Project R.I.S.E. Initially announced as a shutdown, Clash Heroes is reborn as a multiplayer action RPG roguelite, retaining its connection to the Clash universe.
Supercell confirmed the cancellation of Clash Heroes, echoing the fate of Clash Mini. However, Project R.I.S.E. offers a fresh take, shifting the focus to cooperative gameplay. In a recent announcement video, game lead Julien Le Cadre explained the shift, emphasizing the game's transformation into a multiplayer-centric action RPG.
For a detailed overview, check out the announcement video:
Project R.I.S.E. shares a lineage with Clash Heroes but is a completely new development. It's a social action RPG roguelite where teams of three players ascend a mysterious tower, tackling different floors in each session. Unlike the solo PvE focus of its predecessor, Project R.I.S.E. emphasizes collaborative play with a diverse roster of characters.
Currently in pre-alpha, Project R.I.S.E. is slated for its first playtest in early July 2024. Interested players can register on the official website for a chance to participate.
