Pokemon NPCs Won

A Pokémon player is experiencing an unusual level of popularity, or perhaps a glitch, as two NPCs relentlessly bombard them with phone calls. A short video showcases the player trapped, their in-game phone ringing incessantly.

Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls range from friendly updates to rematch requests. However, this player's game appears to malfunction, caught in a loop of calls from Wade the Bug Catcher and Youngster Joey.

The video opens with a call from Wade, detailing his Caterpie training and a Pidgey encounter. Before the player can react, Joey calls, proposing a rematch on Route 30. The calls then repeat in a continuous cycle: Joey, then Wade, again and again.

The reason for this incessant calling is unclear. While Youngster Joey's repetitive calls are infamous, this level of persistence is unusual. The player, FodderWadder, suspects a save file glitch. Other players, however, find the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs are simply eager for conversation.

Although players can delete phone numbers, the game automatically answers incoming calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped the call loop, but only after struggling to find a moment to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center. The experience, however, has left them hesitant to register new numbers, fearing a recurrence of this relentless phone call barrage.
