The Early Access launch for Ratatan has been postponed after the demo received an overwhelming response from fans. Learn what players think about this upcoming rhythm title and what Kickstarter backers can anticipate.

In a Steam blog post on July 4, Ratatan announced that its Early Access release is being delayed due to critical feedback from the demo. Originally scheduled for July 25, the launch has been postponed indefinitely.
Developer Rata Arts shared that the demo was downloaded 200,000 times and received over 1,200 Steam reviews, along with 2,000 pieces of direct feedback. The developers confirmed they need more time to address these points, which led to the decision to delay.
Key issues highlighted in the feedback include an unsatisfying roguelike structure and reward pacing, Ratatans not using their abilities effectively, lack of visual impact and polished presentation, and a need for improvements in content structure, pacing, and mid-gameplay flow.

Although Ratatan is a spiritual successor to the popular rhythm game Patapon and is helmed by its original creator, Hiroyuki Kotani, Rata Arts clarified that it is a distinct experience. They explained, "Ratatan is not Patapon—it's an indie game aiming to deliver something entirely new, so players should expect some differences in direction."
Here at Game8, we felt Ratatan strongly echoes Patapon, offering a sense of welcome familiarity while still feeling fresh. With the original creator leading the project and excitement from longtime fans, Ratatan radiates an energy that revives the charm of Patapon while reinventing it with a bolder, wilder vision.
