Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Super Thin Design

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, showcasing its latest top-tier smartphone. While it shares many similarities with the earlier-released Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge boasts a significantly thinner design, hence the name.

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and feature a high-resolution 200MP camera. The standout difference lies in the chassis, which has been streamlined to a mere 5.8mm thick compared to the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also results in a lighter weight of just 163g.

Despite its larger size, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard Galaxy S25, even though it closely matches the specs of the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra's screen.

Given its slim and expansive profile, durability becomes a critical concern. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more robust than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be its resilience to everyday mishaps like sitting on it, rather than just surviving drops. Will this be enough to prevent a repeat of the infamous "bendgate"?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also integrates the same "Mobile AI" features introduced with the Galaxy S24 and further refined in 2025. Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, much of the AI processing can be done locally, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications will still depend on cloud services. Samsung offers unique features like instant summaries of notifications and news articles, which could be a game-changer for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model priced at $1,099 and the 512GB version at $1,219. The phone is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
