In *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*, building the best Pirate crew is crucial to advancing through the game's story efficiently. During Chapter 2, Goro and his crew enter Madlantis, a Pirate Sanctuary known for its Naval Colloseum battles. Here, you'll delve deeper into the backstories of Jason and Masaru, whose crew was disbanded due to a betrayal in the Pirate Colosseum, leaving them with nothing. Goro's mission becomes clear: upgrade the ship and recruit a stronger crew to compete in the arena. To progress in the main storyline, players must earn $10,000 to repair the ship and recruit five crew members. Here are the top crew members to recruit early in the game to swiftly move forward in *Pirate Yakuza*.
Nickelle Kidman, a playful nod to Nicole Kidman, is an actor found lounging by the beach in Honolulu. To recruit her, your crew, the Goro Pirates, must achieve a two-star rating, which you should already have by completing the main story missions up to this point. If not, you can quickly earn it by discovering treasures, defeating thugs, and engaging in naval battles.
Exploring recruitment options, you'll find three main paths: payment, gifting desired items, or combat. Hammerhead, located on the second floor of the Honolulu shopping center, requires a fight. As one of the easier recruits to defeat due to his manageable health, Hammerhead is a quick addition to your crew, helping you reach the five-member goal.
Kenzo, a ship hand at the Honolulu dock area, can be recruited by either giving him raw materials you've collected during your journey or paying him a few thousand dollars. Given the resources you've likely amassed, recruiting Kenzo is both fast and straightforward, making him a valuable early-game asset.
In Madlantis, Lucas offers a humorous yet challenging recruitment process. A fistfight is all it takes to bring him aboard. Despite his use of a melee weapon, Lucas shouldn't pose much of a threat after the boss battles you've already encountered in the previous chapters.
Recruiting Obispo involves dining at his restaurant in Honolulu. By engaging in nearby battles to reduce your health and then purchasing meals at his establishment five times, you'll convince Obispo to join the Goro Pirates. Though slightly more tedious, this method is still easier than recruiting others with more complex requirements.
While *Pirate Yakuza* offers many other impressive crew members across its islands, these five are the quickest to recruit and will help you progress through the story faster. As the game's challenges increase and more crew members become necessary, you can focus on recruiting those with higher stats and more demanding requirements.
And those are the best crew members to recruit in the early game for *Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii*.
