How to Unlock the Gunsmithing Skill in Atomfall

To access weapon upgrade recipes in Atomfall, you must first acquire the Gunsmithing skill by reading the Crafting Manual. While some skill books are difficult to locate, obtaining this one involves a straightforward (though morally questionable) process.

Morris Wick at Wyndham's Village Shop possesses the Crafting Manual, but simple trading won't secure it. During the St. Katherine's Church investigation into Maisie's murder, careful exploration reveals evidence implicating Morris. Presenting this proof forces him to surrender the manual.

The damning evidence resides in the Brewery Cellar (coordinates 30.5 E, 80.5 N). Locate the cellar door near ruined buildings and find the "Kill the One They Call Maisie" note. Return to Morris' shop (33.3 E, 79.9 N) and leverage this information during conversation until the "Bargaining" option appears. Choose this to receive the manual in exchange for your silence.

While the Crafting Manual can alternatively be found in The Interchange's D Section, the Morris method proves significantly more efficient.

After obtaining the manual, spend 7 Training Stimulants (found in B.A.R.D. facilities) to unlock the Gunsmith skill and gain access to upgrade recipes.

How To Craft Weapon Upgrades in Atomfall

With the Gunsmith skill unlocked, you'll gain recipes for three upgrade tiers: Rusty → Stock → Pristine. Upgrading requires:

• Two copies of the previous-tier weapon
• Varying amounts of Gun Oil and Scrap

Example: Upgrading a Falkirk Battle Rifle to Pristine requires 2 Stock versions, 3 Gun Oil, and 6 Scrap. Military installations like Protocol Camps commonly contain these materials. The Deep Pockets skill helps carry more supplies for frequent upgrades.
