Saber Interactive confirms a DRM-free launch for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. This means no Denuvo or similar digital rights management software will hinder the player experience. Read on for more details on this and other game features.
In a recent FAQ, Saber Interactive clarified several aspects of the upcoming game. Approaching its September 9th release, the developer explicitly stated that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be free of DRM. This decision comes amidst ongoing community discussions about the potential negative impacts of DRM on game performance and player experience. Past instances, such as Capcom's use of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, have highlighted potential compatibility issues and restrictions on modding.
While forgoing DRM, the PC version will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat software. The use of this anti-cheat system has faced scrutiny in the past, notably during a hacking incident at the ALGS 2024 tournament.
The developers also announced that there are currently no plans for official mod support. However, players can anticipate a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Furthermore, Saber Interactive assures fans that all core gameplay content will be freely available, with microtransactions and DLC strictly limited to cosmetic items only.
