The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, a first look at The Witcher 4 has arrived, introducing Ciri as the protagonist.
As fans will remember, Ciri is Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the spotlight shifts to the next generation. The teaser depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a superstitious ritual, sacrificing a young woman to appease a monster. Ciri's intervention reveals a far more complex situation than initially apparent.
While no release date is set, considering the development times of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077 (even longer), and the early stage of Witcher 4's production, a 3-4 year timeframe seems plausible.
Platform announcements are pending, but given the anticipated release window, a current-generation-only release (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is likely. A Switch port, unlike Witcher 3, seems improbable, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Gameplay details are scarce, but the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements: potions, signs, and combat. A new addition may be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.
Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, though not as the central focus. His voiceover in the teaser fuels speculation about a mentor role for the veteran Witcher.
