As someone who transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming, I've always relied on Steam sales to keep up with new releases. While I was aware of Game Pass and its occasional big-name offerings, it never seemed compelling enough for me—until yesterday. Bethesda and Virtuos surprised everyone by shadow-dropping *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* directly onto Game Pass. Though it was a poorly kept secret, the reveal was still mind-blowing. And if that wasn’t enough, *Clair Obscur: Expedition 33*, the stylish debut from Sandfall Interactive inspired by JRPG classics, is set to join the service tomorrow. As a dedicated RPG fan, I must say, Microsoft, you’ve finally won me over.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was released on April 22 for PC, consoles, and Game Pass. I, like many others, spent the day downloading and the night immersed in its enchanting music. The remaster boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and revamped visual effects. Despite bringing in over five new voice actors, Virtuos preserved the original's charmingly quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including the original DLCs, while the deluxe edition costs an additional $10.

On the other hand, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the eagerly awaited debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive. Scheduled for release at midnight PST tonight in the U.S., it has already garnered a 92 rating on Metacritic. IGN's 9/10 review lauded the game's story design, describing it as "a true modern throwback." The game's UI evokes memories of the Persona series, and the early gameplay footage showcases one of the most innovative turn-based combat systems I've seen. Priced at $49.99 for the base edition, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
While Expedition 33 was slated to be the highlight of April’s Game Pass lineup, the sudden release of Oblivion Remastered has overshadowed its launch somewhat. However, from my perspective, we're getting two exceptional games, and Game Pass makes it easier on the wallet. Instead of shelling out $100 for both titles, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only challenge is finding time to step away from my screen.
Game Pass has recently expanded to include more of 2025's biggest titles, such as *Blue Prince*, *South of Midnight*, and *Avowed*, alongside perennial favorites like *GTA V* and the entire *Call of Duty* collection. There truly seems to be something for every gamer.Game Pass Ultimate is available for $19.99/month, providing access to the entire Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99/month. The Standard and Core subscription tiers, priced at $14.99/month and $9.99/month respectively, do not include day one releases. The last price increase for Game Pass was in July 2024, and given the caliber of games being added, another hike wouldn’t be surprising.
Although no current deals are available for Game Pass, you might consider a three-month subscription to hedge against potential future price increases.
