With Monster Hunter Wilds just a few weeks away, Capcom has rolled out a PC benchmark tool to help players gauge if their systems are ready for the hunt. In an exciting update, Capcom has also lowered the official PC system requirements, making the game more accessible to a broader range of players.
During yesterday's Capcom Spotlight, it was announced that the PC benchmark for Monster Hunter Wilds is now live on Steam. Once loaded, the tool will need to compile some shaders, but it's user-friendly and provides valuable insights into how your PC will perform. It's highly recommended to run this benchmark, especially if you're curious about the impact of the updated system requirements on your gameplay experience.
Previously, to achieve 1080p at 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, the game required an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT graphics card; an Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU; and 16 GB of RAM.
However, an updated page accompanying the benchmark reveals that Capcom has adjusted the requirements. The new Recommended settings for 1080p (FHD) at 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled are as follows:
These updated specs should allow Monster Hunter Wilds to run smoothly at 1080p and 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, marking a slight but significant reduction in the required hardware.

Early reports from users who have run the benchmark indicate improved performance compared to the beta test, especially with Frame Generation enabled. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck might not be up to the task, as my tests on a gaming rig were successful, while my attempts on the Deck were less promising.
Another notable change is the reduced storage requirement. Previously, Monster Hunter Wilds needed 140 GB of SSD space, but now it's down to just 75 GB. This is quite surprising, given that file sizes typically increase annually.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on February 28, 2025.
