Hideki Kamiya, renowned game director behind classics like Okami, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta, embarks on a new chapter. After a two-decade tenure at PlatinumGames, he's launched Clovers Inc., a new studio dedicated to fulfilling a long-held dream: an Okami sequel.

A Sequel 18 Years in the Making

Kamiya's passion for Okami is well-documented. He's publicly expressed his desire for a sequel, viewing the original's narrative as unfinished. His new venture, a partnership with Capcom (the original publisher), finally brings this vision to life.

Clovers Inc.: A New Beginning

Clovers Inc., a name echoing the legacy of Clover Studio (creators of Okami and Viewtiful Joe), is a joint venture between Kamiya and former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama. Koyama leads the business side, allowing Kamiya to focus on game development. The studio currently employs 25 people, prioritizing a shared creative vision over sheer size.

Departure from PlatinumGames

Kamiya's departure from PlatinumGames, a company he co-founded, surprised many. While he remained tight-lipped about specifics, he alluded to philosophical differences regarding game development. The opportunity to create Okami 2 with Koyama, who shares his creative vision, proved irresistible.

Kamiya's online persona is known for its bluntness. Recently, however, he showed a more empathetic side, apologizing to a fan he'd previously offended. This gesture, coupled with increased engagement with fans, suggests a shift in his online interactions.
