Hopetown, a nonlinear RPG crafted by Longdue Games, introduces a novel approach to narrative-driven gameplay. Founded by former employees of ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, the studio has unveiled its first glimpse into the game's mechanics, positioning Hopetown as a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium. The storyline revolves around a journalist who awakens in a mining town after a night of excessive drinking. Battling a severe hangover, players are tasked with reconstructing the previous night's events while navigating an escalating local conflict, with the power to either soothe tensions or exacerbate them.

Screenshots showcase a dialogue-rich experience where the player's choices profoundly influence the narrative trajectory. The game offers multiple archetypes, each providing distinct dialogue options and conversational styles. For instance, when engaging with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can select various tones, which can significantly alter the interaction's outcome.
Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to support the project, with an active page already available on the platform. Although no official release date has been set, excitement is mounting among fans of narrative-centric RPGs.
Notably, Hopetown is not the only game taking inspiration from Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, have also ventured into developing their unique psychological RPGs, adding to the growing genre.
