Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is addressing player concerns with hotfix 4.1, directly responding to negative feedback regarding recent gameplay adjustments. The developers, Saber Interactive, have also announced plans for public test servers in early 2025.
Hotfix 4.1, launching October 24th, will undo the most significant balance changes introduced in Patch 4.0. This decision follows widespread player criticism and negative Steam reviews. Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the team is responding to "most pressing concerns" and that the public test servers, slated for early 2025, aim to prevent similar issues in the future.
The initial nerfs in Patch 4.0, intended to increase challenge by adjusting enemy spawns, inadvertently impacted lower difficulty levels. Saber Interactive clarified that the goal was to increase enemy numbers rather than simply boosting enemy health.
Specifically, hotfix 4.1 will revert Extremis enemy spawn rates on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties to pre-Patch 4.0 levels, significantly reducing them on Ruthless difficulty. Ruthless difficulty will also see a 10% player armor increase, and bots will receive a 30% damage buff against bosses.
Furthermore, the hotfix includes substantial buffs to Bolt weapons, addressing their previously reported underperformance across all difficulty levels. The following damage increases are included in hotfix 4.1:
⚫︎ Auto Bolt Rifle: +20% ⚫︎ Bolt Rifle: +10% ⚫︎ Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15% ⚫︎ Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10% ⚫︎ Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10% ⚫︎ Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10% ⚫︎ Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5% ⚫︎ Bolt Carbine: +15% ⚫︎ Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15% ⚫︎ Heavy Bolter: +5% ⚫︎ Heavy Bolter: +5%
Grigorenko emphasized continued monitoring of player feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure the Lethal difficulty remains appropriately challenging and rewarding.
