Exciting news has emerged from MP1st about the unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This information comes from the portfolio website of an unnamed developer at Virtuos Studio, rather than from traditional insider sources. The project, which is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, promises a comprehensive reimagining of the beloved game.
According to the portfolio of a former Virtuos employee, Oblivion will see significant updates across various mechanics. Key areas such as stamina, stealth, attack blocking, archery, damage reactions, and the user interface are all set for a major overhaul. For instance, the revamped blocking mechanics take inspiration from Soulslike games, aiming to address the original's perceived shortcomings. The damage calculation system will also be reworked to include visible reactions to hits, making combat more dynamic and engaging. Stamina management is expected to become more intuitive, and both the UI and archery systems will be modernized to align with current gaming trends.
MP1st speculates that the project initially started as a simple remaster, as hinted by leaked Microsoft documents, but has since evolved into a full-fledged remake. The publication's sources have confirmed that the Oblivion remake will not be featured at the upcoming Developer_Direct. However, there are whispers that we might not have to wait long for its release, with potential launch rumors pointing to this year.
