Neople, a subsidiary of the renowned South Korean gaming giant Nexon, is set to captivate gamers with its highly anticipated hardcore RPG slasher, The First Berserker: Khazan. Scheduled for release on March 27, the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. As the excitement builds, the developers have shared an eight-minute gameplay trailer that dives deep into the game's intricate combat system.
The trailer highlights three fundamental principles of combat in The First Berserker: Khazan: attacking, dodging, and defending. Each of these actions interacts uniquely with the game's stamina mechanic, which is crucial for survival. Defending, while consuming a significant amount of stamina, offers the benefit of reduced stamina drain and minimized stun effects when executed with perfect timing. Dodging, on the other hand, is less taxing on stamina but demands precise timing and quick reflexes to leverage the brief moments of invulnerability during evasive moves. As in many soulslike games, mastering stamina management is key to achieving victory in The First Berserker: Khazan.
Should a player's stamina be depleted, Khazan falls into a state of exhaustion, making him highly susceptible to enemy attacks. This mechanic isn't just a challenge for the player; it's a strategic opportunity to exploit enemies with stamina bars by draining their stamina before unleashing devastating blows. For enemies without stamina bars, their resilience can be gradually eroded through relentless attacks. These encounters test players' patience, positioning, and timing, yet they are balanced by the fact that monster stamina does not regenerate over time, adding a layer of strategic depth to the combat.
