Elden Ring Update 1.01.3 Fixes Critical Bugs

by Patrick Dec 06,2025

Elden Ring Nightreign's Patch 1.01.3 is now available across all platforms. While it focuses on a select few tuning adjustments and bug fixes, the player community has responded positively to the implemented changes.

The update introduces a single balance tweak: "Increased the drop rate for weapons that inflict the Madness status effect." Madness is a status ailment that accumulates on targets, and a full affliction deals substantial damage while causing flames to erupt from the enemy's eyes.

Notably, one of the formidable Nightlords, Libra, is particularly vulnerable to Madness. While this appears beneficial for players attempting to defeat this demonic foe, some members of the r/Nightreign subreddit have expressed doubts regarding its overall impact on their gameplay runs.

They point out that very few weapons inherently possess Madness effects; it's primarily found on incantation seals and Vyke's Spear. Furthermore, not every enemy in the game can be afflicted with Madness. In fact, the pool of susceptible enemies seems relatively limited compared to other status effects or elemental damage types.

"I managed to find an incantation once, but that was it. Ideally, this change means standard weapons can now occasionally roll with Madness, even if it's just as a drop from madness-afflicted camps," shared one user. "Considering you can obtain the same weapon with different status effects or elemental affinities for other damage types, Madness shouldn't be so exceptionally rare, especially when its primary utility is against one specific boss."

For most players, the more significant update appears to be one of the bug resolutions: "Fixed an issue where players would instantly lose a battle after being revived from a near-death state against a Nightlord or other Night bosses." This bug reportedly caused considerable frustration for players attempting to conquer these challenging encounters, only to have their revival effects trigger an unexpected defeat.

"This happened to me about twenty times," recounted one player. "It felt like a psychological horror experience."

These fixes, along with general quality-of-life improvements like adjusting the visibility of the Whirlwind skill effect for Guardian players using a specific Relic, represent meaningful, albeit minor, refinements for Elden Ring Nightreign. However, one highly requested feature remains unaddressed.

Players who have completed the final boss are still hoping for a resolution to issues with Shifting Earth events. For the uninitiated, Shifting Earth events are random occurrences that alter sections of the standard Nightreign map, introducing new mini-dungeons to explore for treasure. These events are necessary for obtaining certain trophies in Elden Ring Nightreign. Many players in the discussion thread and elsewhere have voiced their frustration that these events become exceedingly rare after finishing the main story.

So, while the Elden Ring Nightreign community still has features they'd like to see improved, this latest patch successfully addresses several quality-of-life issues that should streamline the expeditions for Nightfarers.

Additional content is also on the horizon. FromSoftware has hinted that "enhanced" versions of the current Nightlord lineup are scheduled to arrive sometime this month.
