Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions leave insufficient time for players to leave or read messages, rendering the feature impractical.
This choice is notable given the significant role messaging has played in enhancing player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It offers a fresh adventure with distinct challenges and encounters, while preserving the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
